Meeds Tokens and the WoM Journey
Meeds wants to be the go-to way to measure engagement for any organization dealing with disengagement problems and wanting to do something about it. We aim to make a system that works all around the world and is easy for everyone to use. With the Meeds Hubs, any group can give rewards to the people who help out. To let organizations use the Meeds software, we made the WoM, a platform that’s spread out and doesn’t depend on one central place.
One big thing Meeds accomplished this year was making things decentralized. Meeds lets a smart contract handle creating Meeds tokens instead of doing it themselves. This was a huge step toward our goal of being fully decentralized.
On May 1, 2022, Meeds started the WoM journey. People could stake Meeds tokens and create deeds. We picked International Workers’ Day to kick things off—it seemed like the right time!
Now, a year later, Meeds has gotten 4 million Meeds tokens staked, which is about 40% of the total supply. This takes us halfway to making Tanit, the first city of the WoM, with 50 deeds. You can still get in on being the owner of the first deeds in the WoM—there's lots of opportunity. The next part is called Reschef, and it’s going to add 1,000 more deeds to the mix.

As the person who mints it, you keep getting 1% of the money from all the future sales of your deed, forever. This is a way to reward the early supporters of Meeds by following how the market is doing.
Also, when you mint your deeds, you save your money. After you make your deed, you can take some of your money back and use your Meeds to thank the people who helped. Or, you can let your money keep growing and get points for minting by keeping your Meeds money in.
